Assistant Test Content Outline

The Orthotic Assistant Exam Test Content Outline below is broken down by domain; each domain section indicates the percentage of emphasis that the elements of practice in that domain receives on the exams. For each Practice Domain listed on the Test Content Outline, you should plan on familiarizing yourself with clinical, technical or general practice information related to that domain.

Assessment — 27%

• Review patient’s prescription/referral.
• Obtain and/or review patient history and assessment findings, including but not limited to previous device use, medical history, functional limitations, activity levels, patient measurements/
• Consult with certified orthotist and/or interdisciplinary team about patient’s condition in order to understand the treatment plan and goals.
• Document assessment findings using established documentation requirements.
