ABC volunteers have always been our greatest resource and almost all programs and initiatives involve the work of our volunteers. Our 130+ volunteers, including our board of directors, spend countless hours of their own time to assist us in tasks ranging from conducting exams, reviewing and revising exam questions and content, reviewing accreditation standards and survey processes and determining current and appropriate policies and programs, to name a few. We have come a long way, but we couldn't have done it without our amazing volunteers!
“Those who can, do. Those who can do more, volunteer.”
The William D. Beiswenger Volunteer Award was established in 2000 to honor its first recipient William Beiswenger, CPO, FAAOP, of Colorado Springs, Colo., for his outstanding record of volunteerism and his commitment to the ABC mission.
This prestigious award recognizes ABC volunteers who have distinguished themselves through their service to the mission of ABC by using their time, talent, vision and leadership.
Award recipients have demonstrated a record of sustained commitment and leadership to ABC programs and to the orthotics and prosthetics profession. This could include participation on task forces and/or committees, serving as an examiner or serving on the board of directors. A selection committee of previous award recipients informs the board of recommended recipients. This award is intended to be presented as deemed appropriate by the Board of Directors to no more than one person every 3-5 years.
