Patient Care

We accredit the following types of facilities:

  • Orthotics & Prosthetics
  • Orthotics
  • Prosthetics
  • Prefabricated Orthotics
  • Off-the-Shelf Orthotics
  • Pedorthics
  • Non-Custom Therapeutic Footwear
  • Mastectomy
  • Ocular Prosthetics

We also provide accreditation for Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and Ancillary Assistive Devices (AAD). Please note, to become accredited with DME or AAD, your facility must also provide one of the above listed services.

The application approval process takes two to four weeks, and we will notify you as soon as your facility has been approved for an onsite survey. Your survey can occur any time after your application has been processed.

  • Preparation – Review the ABC Patient Care Facility Accreditation Guide and make sure your facility is compliant with both the basic eligibility criteria and the standards.
  • Application – Once you’re confident that your facility is compliant, submit your application and fees. We will review and approve your application and schedule your onsite survey. As required by CMS, all surveys must be unscheduled and unannounced, but we will provide a courtesy four-week window in advance of your survey.
  • Survey – An official ABC accreditation surveyor will conduct an onsite survey to determine your compliance with the ABC standards. This is your opportunity to get consultative feedback about your business operations, so be sure to ask questions and take notes.
  • Decision – After your survey, we will email and mail your accreditation decision within 4-6 weeks.
  • Maintaining Accreditation – Accreditation is ongoing, and you will need to renew every three years. To remain in good standing, be sure to inform us of any location, personnel or service changes, pay your annual fees and renew your accreditation on-time.

Once we have awarded your accreditation, it is valid for up to three years. To keep your accreditation, you will need to apply for renewal and be resurveyed.

Check the eligibility criteria on the next tab. Once you have determined that you meet the requirements and are ready for an onsite survey, go ahead and apply.
