If your five-year continuing education cycle ends this year, the deadline to complete your Continuing Education (CE) credits is December 31. It is crucial that you finish all required CE credits before this date to maintain your certification.
What happens if I don’t complete my CE requirement before Dec. 31?
Your credential will be suspended if you don’t earn the credits by the deadline, and you will be required to earn penalty credits in addition to the deficient credits within the following calendar year to reinstate your credential.
Need help earning CEUs? Visit our Find CEUs course search tool and select your credential type to find preapproved Category I credits. You can also report activities and courses not preapproved by ABC for Category II credits. Examples include teaching or presenting, taking college courses or allied health and medical seminars, attending hospital teaching clinics, participating in humanitarian work and providing resident supervision. You can report these activities for credit by logging in to your MY ABC account and clicking Report My Category II Credits.
Please note any courses taken in December will be reported to ABC in the first week of January. As long as the course is taken in December, it will count toward your current cycle.
Log in to your MY ABC account to see how many credits you have/still need. Be sure to also review our Guide to Maintaining Your Certification for more details and contact us if you have any questions.
