Cathy Carter, Executive Director of the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics (ABC), has been elected to the Board of Directors for the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).

“I am honored to represent the O&P profession on the CAAHEP Board and excited to work with its members to oversee the execution of the new CAAHEP strategic plan. I look forward to furthering the mission of this great organization,” says Cathy Carter.

CAAHEP is the largest programmatic accreditor of the health sciences professions. In collaboration with its Committees on Accreditation, CAAHEP reviews and accredits over 2,100 individual education programs in 30 health science occupations. CAAHEP accredited programs are assessed on an ongoing basis to assure that they meet the standards and guidelines of each profession. ABC is a sponsor of orthotics and prosthetics within the CAAHEP system.

The 16 members of the CAAHEP Board set the standards for allied health education programs and award programmatic accreditation to those programs that meet the standards.

Kathy Megivern, JD, Executive Director of CAAHEP commented, "We are very happy that Cathy is joining the CAAHEP Board. Cathy’s extensive background in the certification and accreditation profession and her strong governance expertise will be a valuable asset to our organization. Adding another director to the Board with Cathy’s credentials further strengthens our commitment to governance excellence.”
