The long awaited consensus document from the CMS workgroup was released on June 13th. The workgroup was created in reaction to the controversial Local Coverage Determination (LCD) released by the DME MAC medical directors in July 2015. The public outcry was so strong that CMS put the LCD on hold and created the workgroup to inform Medicare policy regarding best practices for beneficiary access to lower limb prosthetic care.
