CMS Ends Six-Month Moratorium on New DMEPOS Supplier Enrollment

On August 27, 2026, CMS’s initial six-month moratorium officially expired, and the agency decided not to extend it. The National Provider Enrollment (NPE) contractors—Palmetto GBA and Novitas Solutions—will now accept initial enrollment applications from the affected DMEPOS supplier types. For questions, please contact your NPE contractor directly.

The temporary nationwide moratorium from CMS was announced on February 27, 2026. It applied to initial enrollment applications and changes in majority ownership for select DMEPOS suppliers.

For more information about the moratorium and next steps for facilities planning to bid in Round 2028 of the DMEPOS Competitive Bidding Program, visit CMS’s DMEPOS Competitive Bidding website.
