Mark your calendar for a milestone moment in the movement for equitable access to mobility care. The completed So Every BODY Can Move (SEBCM) documentary will be celebrated at a special private screening on Thursday, October 29, in New York City—and ABC is proud to have helped fund the film and bring this important story to the screen.
Members of the OP&P community will also be invited to a virtual screening during the week of October 26. The event is expected to feature the film and a panel discussion. The date and time will be announced soon.
Beginning in November, SEBCM also plans to expand the documentary’s reach through community screenings across all 50 states. Screening resources are being developed to equip local leaders to host meaningful events, engage their communities and turn the film’s message into advocacy.
A Story We Believed Needed to Be Told
It was important for us to support the SEBCM documentary, because its message speaks directly to an urgent need across the orthotics, prosthetics, and pedorthics profession: people should be able to access the care they need not only for daily living, but also for physical activity, health, independence, and full participation in life. Too often, activity-specific care is denied as “not medically necessary,” leaving individuals and families to face significant costs or go without the devices they need.
The documentary puts a human face on that inequity. It elevates the voices of people with lived experience and follows the advocates, families, clinicians, and leaders working state by state to remove barriers to mobility care. The film captures more than legislative victories—it reflects the courage, persistence, and collaboration behind SEBCM’s goal of enacting legislation in 28 states by the 2028 Paralympic Games and laying the groundwork for future federal reform.
For ABC, the October 29 premiere is especially meaningful. It marks the culmination of a project we were honored to help make possible—and the beginning of a larger opportunity to use the film as a catalyst for awareness, conversation, and action nationwide.
We look forward to celebrating the documentary’s premiere and continuing to support a movement working to make access to mobility care more equitable. Watch for details about the OP&P virtual screening and in-person community screenings as they become available.
