Careers, Compliance & Community-ABC Does It All at the Assembly!

ABC headed to the Sunshine State for the 108th AOPA National Assembly, September 3-6 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. This year’s assembly delivered a full schedule of great education and networking opportunities, plus an array of exciting events. ABC was proud to support several of those, including the So Every BODY Can Move Activation Celebration/Reception and the 10th Anniversary Professional Women in O&P Luncheon. In addition to providing the latest information about our programs and answering questions, ABC highlighted the importance of career awareness as well as the benefits of care extenders, such as ABC certified assistants and fitters.

Building on ABC’s WhatIsPOP career awareness initiative, the ABC team was also excited to co-host a special High School Day event during the Assembly with AOPA, NCOPE and the International Institute of Orthotics and Prosthetics (IIOP). Local students were invited to come to the conference to engage with POP professionals, learn about the profession and participate in exclusive activities, including: a virtual welcome from Florida State Senator Jay Collins, a WhatIsPOP presentation with experts in the profession, patient impact stories and group tours of the exhibit hall featuring the latest innovations and live demonstrations.

Additionally, ABC presented an accreditation workshop, “Facility Accreditation Standards: You’re Ultimate Blueprint for Compliance Excellence,” where attendees learned about strategies for staying compliant with Medicare and ABC facility accreditation standards year-round as well as the many ABC accreditation resources available to help facilities achieve lasting excellence.

New this year was AOPA’s Ask Me Anything Content Expert Table. This 30-minute “office hours” style experience provided attendees the opportunity to ask subject matter experts questions and engage in meaningful discussions around key content areas. ABC was thrilled to be able to host two tables – one focused on career awareness and another on facility accreditation compliance.

With the many education opportunities available at this year’s Assembly, ABC credential holders were able to earn up to 34 continuing education credits, plus three exhibit hall credits for in-person attendance. Attendees are also able to earn additional credits through AOPA’s Virtual National Assembly, available September 25 – November 25.

Thanks to everyone who visited the ABC booth and attended an ABC-sponsored event or session!

If you have any questions regarding the Virtual National Assembly or reporting of credits earned during the in-person Assembly, please contact AOPA
