ABC is proud to support the publication of a new resource guide for telehealth in O&P. Researchers at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia, conducted a study and released an article detailing their findings, along with an accompanying how-to guide. This work was made possible in part by funding from the American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association (AOPA), as well as contributions from Steve Fletcher, CPO, Professional Credentialing Director at ABC and Joe McTernan, Health Policy and Advocacy Director at AOPA, both of whom served on the Expert Advisory Group.
The guide was designed to promote sound clinical judgment by empowering practitioners to consider telehealth options. It emphasizes understanding the purpose of the patient consultation, the preferences and capabilities of the O&P user, the support resources available and the risks associated with providing telehealth versus in-person care.
The Guide to Telehealth in O&P can be found as an additional resource to ABC’s Telehealth FAQs.
