Proposed LCD Policy Harmful to Prosthetic Patient Care

The Durable Medical Equipment Medicare Administrative Contractors (DME MAC) have just released a proposed Local Coverage Determination (LCD) that has significant implications on how you treat prosthetic patients.

The proposed policy would completely overhaul how lower extremity prostheses are provided to Medicare beneficiaries. ABC is working with the other O&P Alliance members to comprehensively respond to this threat to amputees' ability to access appropriate care.

Click here for the proposed LCD.

I encourage you to participate by commenting on the proposed policy, your voice needs to be heard.

The public comment period is extremely short and ends close of business August 31, 2015. The DME MAC Medical Directors need your feedback about their draft policy.

Please submit your comments electronically to the DME MAC medical director at DMAC_Draft_LCD_Comments@anthem.com as soon as possible. The subject line should read Lower Limb Prostheses.

Additional information about the impact of this proposed LCD and ways to make your voice heard are available on the  AOPA website.
