The American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics, Inc. 2012 Annual Report is now available on the ABC website. The report summarizes the organization’s successes and provides data on the total number of certified individuals and accredited facilities.
In the 2012 Annual Report, each of ABC’s five core departments provide statistical analysis and highlight the accomplishments that have helped to strengthen and improve ABC’s contribution to the profession. Again in 2012, ABC enjoyed significant growth in its credentialing and facility accreditation programs, a testament to the high standards and quality services that ABC offers.
Included in the report is a message from Donald D. Virostek, CPO, ABC’s 2012 President. Virostek provides an overview of the organization’s year-long strategic successes.
Successes in 2012 include:
- Notably, ABC continued to add to its family of credentialed individuals by awarding 1,233 certifications – bringing the total number of ABC certified professionals to 14,037.
- The ABC Facility Accreditation program continued to attract and retain a record number of facilities.
- ABC conducted Practice Analysis Surveys of the orthotic and prosthetic assistant and the therapeutic shoe fitter professions and published results for the 2011 Practice Analysis Survey of the mastectomy fitter profession.
- The ABC Board of Directors approved changes to the frequency of exam administrations for 2013. All computer-based certification exams are now offered every other month and the CPM exams are offered three times a year.
