Any Medicare supplier of Durable Medical Equipment Prothetics Orthotics and Supplies (DMEPOS) who bills for any items that would be coded with an E code will have to have a Surety Bond by October 2, 2009.

Medicare suppliers of durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics and supplies (DMEPOS), unless exempt, must be accredited and secure a surety bond by October 1, 2009 and October 2, 2009, respectively.

ABC just released its updated Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics Scope of Practice. The Scope of Practice is reviewed by a group of Certified Orthotists, Prosthetists and Pedorthists to ensure its continued relevancy to the profession.

The ABC Therapeutic Shoe Fitter Exam Team met last month to review and approve the certification examination and set the passing point for the coming year.
