Pedorthic Program
ABC pedorthic certification is awarded as an attestation of competency for the public, those who require pedorthic services, and those in other health professions. The awarding of ABC pedorthic certification provides the certified pedorthist with an appropriate and meaningful recognition of professional competence.
The Scope of Practice for Certified Pedorthists identified the practice areas of ABC C.Peds and a thorough description of pedorthic devices.
Eligibility Requirements:
Candidates for ABC pedorthist certification can attain the C.Ped credential through two pathways.
Pathway 1 requires that the applicant complete Levels 1, 2 and 3 of a CAPE approved pre-certification pedorthic coursework. Applicants who started their pedorthic education after 1/1/2006 must apply under this pathway.
Pathway 2 requires that an applicant complete 120-hours of CAPE approved pedorthic pre-certification educational courses. This pathway is only available to those applicants who started their pedorthic education prior to 1/1/2006.
