Pedorthic Standards

This accreditation is designed for those businesses that employ a certified or licensed professional whose scope of services includes customizing foot orthoses to fit the diabetic patients.

If your practice provides custom fit diabetic foot orthoses to Medicare beneficiaries, you need to be accredited. Pedorthics is the design, manufacture, modification and/or fit of footwear, including shoes, orthoses and foot devices, to prevent or alleviate foot problems caused by disease, congenital defect, overuse or injury. Use the links to the right to download the required documents and return them, completed, to us so we can begin your accreditation process.

With new CMS standards and the integration of BCP and ABC, the facility accreditation process and application are being re-designed to assure compliance with the Deemed Provider requirements. Revised pedorthic facility accreditation applications and documents will be available in late February 2007.

Both ABC's and BCP's pedorthic accreditation programs were approved by CMS but due to the integration of BCP into ABC, we are developing a single, new pedorthic accreditation program.

CMS has not yet set a date for the mandatory accreditation requirements to take effect, so the process by which you bill Medicare remains unchanged. ABC anticipates releasing the new program in late February.

Affordability

Affordable accreditation is key for O&P business owners, and ABC's program is thus designed to be cost effective as a benefit to the profession. This allows ABC to keep application and renewal fees low, especially when compared with larger, more bureaucratic accrediting organizations.

Discounts

ABC accredited facilities are eligible for substantial discounts and credits on liability insurance from Cailor-Fleming insurance group.
