Assistant MCE Requirements


The following requirements have been established for maintaining continuing education. Please consult the Mandatory Continuing Education (MCE) Book of Rules for additional information on this program.

Single Discipline (ROA and RPA) Assistants:

  1. Fifty (50) credits must be earned during the five year duration for the single discipline assistant.

  2. At least 30 of the required credits must be earned as Category I scientific credits.

  3. Business credits may be earned in Category I or Category II, however, they may not exceed 20 and can not be counted toward satisfying the required 30 Category I scientific credits.

  4. All credits may be earned in Category I. However, a maximum of 20 credits during each five-year period may be earned in Category II.

Dual Discipline (RPOA) Assistants:

  1. Sixty-five (65) credits must be earned during the five year duration for the dual discipline assistant.

  2. At least 45 of the required credits must be earned as Category I scientific credits.

  3. Business credits may be earned in Category I or Category II, however, they may not exceed 20 and can not be counted toward satisfying the required 45 Category I scientific credits.

  4. All credits may be earned in Category I. However, a maximum of 20 credits during each five-year period may be earned in Category II.

Accrual of Credits

  1. Credits earned in excess of the number required for your current MCE period cannot be applied toward a future five year MCE period.

  2. Only credits obtained after registration may be credited towards satisfying the continuing education requirement in the applicable discipline.

  3. Assistants may not attend the same course more than twice within a five year period.


Signing In for Courses: Always be sure to identify yourself as an ABC Assistant when attending courses in which you wish to receive credits by using your ABC registration number. Failure to do so could result in lack of credits.

Reporting Errors: If you believe there to be an error within your statement, please mail a copy of the statement with corrected information noted and any necessary documentation to the ABC.

Personal Recordkeeping System: Retain this statement along with other relevant information within your continuing education file folder.

The ABC Board of Directors reserves the right to amend all policies and procedures governing mandatory continuing education.
