On February 26, 2008, the ABC Board of Directors approved the following policy:
The MCE Committee shall have the right to notify sponsors when only specific credential types or disciplines will be eligible for continuing education credits.
Individuals may appeal to the Committee for approval of credits outside of their discipline and/or credential should they be able to document how this education is relevant to their professional responsibilities.
It is up to the individual to verify with the sponsor if the credits will be applicable to their credential with ABC. If you have any questions, please call Heather Harris at (703) 836-7114, ext. 227.
The MCE Book of Rules has been updated. Please review the revised version in PDF format by clicking on "MCE Book of Rules" to the right.
Mandatory Continuing Education (MCE)
ABC has long recognized the need for effective professional continuing education. Continuing education, which is the norm in the health care profession, is meant to maintain and improve the healthcare system and delivery of services. ABC credentialed individuals must seek education to meet two continual demands: 1) to maintain performance at the basic level of professional competence; and, 2) to advance training and specialized skills beyond the basic level.
The information contained in this section will advise the ABC credentialed individual of opportunities available to satisfy their requirements, the requirements for maintaining each credential, and how to apply for such credits.
