Category I course approval is granted to sponsor-based continuing education opportunities that are evaluated by the Committee. Content must be relevant to the disciplines of orthotics, prosthetics, pedorthics, orthotic, post-mastectomy and therapeutic shoe fitting; have qualified presenters/instructors and clear and concise learning outcomes. For additional information, please refer to ABC's Sponsor Policies and Procedures.
ABC credentials individuals in the areas of orthotics, prosthetics, pedorthics, and orthotic, mastectomy and therapeutic shoe fitting. Only educational and business programs that relate specifically to the practice of those disciplines will be granted credits. Although ABC will acknowledge content outside their scope of practice, credentialed individuals are required to earn the majority of their continuing education credits from content specifically related to their ABC credential.
Course approval is valid for one calendar year (January 1 – December 31). Programs held numerous times throughout the year will fall under one application if it is presented exactly as appears in the application. Programs presented in different formats with variations in times and presenters will require separate applications.
To ensure that your application can be processed in a timely manner, you must include the $100 fee and the course/program agenda. You must also identify those disciplines for which your program is applicable. Category I credits will be awarded to those individuals credentialed with ABC in the disciplines for which your program is most relevant. Category II credits will be awarded to all other participants.
ABC lists all preapproved courses on this website under the “Credit Opportunities section”. We encourage sponsors to apply as early as possible so that the program/meeting date(s) can be viewed by as many participants as possible. ABC will gladly add new dates as they become available. This advertising is at no additional cost.
Forms are also available for distance learning (at home) courses. Forms are available for new programs as well as for reapplying for a previously approved program. Distance learning course approvals are good for three (3) years.
All necessary forms are available for download from the list on the right of this page.
